Description:

This is an early childhood team teaching position based in an infant/toddler multi-age grouping at Stony Brook Child Care Services, Inc. The goal is to provide high quality care and education to children ranging in age 2 months to 3 years for the infant/toddler teaching position, or from three to five years for the preschool teaching position. Additionally, the Center is a practicum site for undergraduate interns who will be supervised and mentored by this staff person.

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Teaching: Provide daily care and education to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of children aged 2 months to 3 years for the infant/toddler teacher and three to five years for the preschool teacher in accordance with Stony Brook Child Care Services, Inc. philosophy.
  • Administration: Participate in administrative duties that involve scheduling, hiring, adapting curriculum, monitoring the condition of the facility, and availability of supplies.
  • Student Intern Program: To include supervising and serving as a role model for undergraduate interns as well as participating in seminars and the grading process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications for Infant Toddler Teacher (As evidenced by attached resume):

Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field) or credit equivalent (60 credits), or completion of an early childhood and/or infant/toddler accredited course from an institution of Higher Education. In lieu of the educational requirements, two years of full time professional experience in the field of Early Childhood and/or Infant/Toddler care will be considered. One year of related childcare experience.

Required Qualifications for Preschool Teacher (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, or credit equivalent 60 credits, or completion of an early childhood accredited course from an institution of Higher Education. In lieu of the educational requirements, two years of full time professional experience in the field of Early Childhood will be considered. One year of related childcare experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a full day, early childhood/child care setting.
