Early Childhood Instructional Specialist

Description:

The Office of Early Childhood  at the Archdiocese of New York seeks an Early Childhood Instructional Specialist (ECIS) for the Bronx Region. The ECIS will join a team of professionals who support the Pre-K for All programs in our regional schools. Working in collaboration with the school building leader and teachers, the ECIS will be supervised by the Early Childhood Instructional Coordinator and Associate Superintendent of Early Childhood.

Core Competencies: 

• Strong communication skills
• Experience coaching and/or providing professional development to adults in an education setting
• Thorough understanding of comprehensive and innovative early childhood teaching and learning strategies
• Familiarity with the NYC Department of Education Pre-K for All (PKFA) policies and procedures
• Knowledge and understanding of New York State early childhood learning standards
• Experience with rating expectations of ECERS and CLASS
• Willingness to work collaboratively in a team setting

Responsibilities:

Core Roles and Responsibilities:

• Coach early childhood teachers and staff in the implementation of the PKFA program with an emphasis on high quality instruction
• Support PFKA sites in the effective use of Positive Behavior Guidance
• Assist the school site’s Principal/Director in assuring and monitoring PKFA Program Quality Standards are met
• Provide professional development to regional teachers, staff and leaders
