Under the direct supervision of the Special Education Teacher work with the one child assigned to you in any way the teacher needs according to the child’s IEP.
Take the children off the bus in the morning and return them to the bus at the end of their day.
Sit with your assigned child at all times and help them with their work.

Help your child get cleaned up after a project.
Assist your child if needed with putting on and removing outer clothing.
Keep records of antecedents, behaviors and consequences that your teacher will review.
Monitor free play and interact with your child during this time and encourage him/her to reason throughout the day, using actual events and experiences as a basis for concept development.(Children learn sequence by talking about their experiences in the daily routine or recalling the sequence of a project)
Attend all Related Services that are mandated on his/her IEP as requested.
When necessary re-direct your child using positive intervention techniques.
Sit with the child and assist during lunch and or snack time.
Assist child with bathroom skills especially hand washing this may also include: diaper changing and or toilet training.
Follow child’s (BIP) Behavior Modification Plan as instructed, and chart behavior accordingly.
Your physical presence might change in regard to the proximity of the child. You may be asked to sit further back and not be immediately present as success is seen until your child is able to function successfully on an independent basis.
Assist and participate with your assigned child during music, art and gym specials.
Teacher Aide Position
A Teacher Aide’s primary responsibility is to assist the teacher in any way the teacher needs following the teachers directions at all times.
Never leave the children alone at any time.
Sit with the children and help them with their work.
Assist the teacher with setting up projects in the morning.
If the children are bused to the school, take the children off the bus in the morning and return them to their bus at the end of the day.
Clean up after all activities, i.e.: tables, floor, chairs, etc.
Help children get cleaned up after a project.
Assist children with putting on and removing outer clothing.

Qualifications:
1:1 Aide (Level 1)-Hold a Level 1 NYS Certification or equivalent (or working towards).
