HUDSON GUILD EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM Head Teacher (UPK/4s) Hudson Guild is a multi-service community center serving those who live, work or go to school in New York City, with a focus on those in need. Our work helps knit together a dynamic and multi-faceted community, provides a safety net for people in economic distress, and supports individuals as they pursue their goals. Building on our roots in the settlement house tradition, Hudson Guild takes an integrated, holistic approach to providing services and building community. Founded in 1895, Hudson Guild currently provides services to more than 14,000 people each year and the participants of Hudson Guild’s programs come from a variety of cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. 

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively with classroom staff to ensure a safe and healthy classroom
  • Work collaboratively with classroom staff including assistant teachers, aides, volunteers, and therapists
  • Develop lesson plans that are aligned with the Creative Curriculum format and the Common Core Standards
  • Effectively communicate the development and progress of children with families using cultural sensitivity
  • Responsible for identifying children with disabilities and assisting with referrals
  • Maintain up to date documentation for children, including assessments, writing monthly observations, and conducting home visits
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating classroom setting regularly
  • -Attend weekly teacher meetings, monthly in-service trainings, and other professional development trainings

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Head Teacher must have a BA in Early Childhood Education (MA or MS preferred) and a minimum of two years teaching experience in early childhood. Candidates must have a Certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth-Grade 2) or be in process of obtaining this certification. Must be available to work between the hours of 8am-6pm daily.
